Actos Drug Injury Attorneys
The MEDLAW Legal Team of Janet, Jenner & Suggs, LLC, has achieved national recognition helping victims of prescription drugs. We believe drug makers should be held accountable when they negligently manufacture or market their products. Our team of experienced drug injury attorneys are investigating claims related to Actos or the related drugs of ActoPlus Met, ActoPlus Met XR or Duetact.
Actos may cause or aggravate congestive heart failure, according to the Food and Drug Administration. That’s why the FDA has required Actos to carry a “black box” warning – the most severe warning short of a recall. The FDA has also issued a newer safety announcement about Actos’ association with an increased risk of bladder cancer, particularly in men.
The drug injury lawyers at Janet, Jenner & Suggs believe that Takeda Pharmaceuticals should be held responsible for the dangerous side effects caused by its products, which include Actos and related medications.

Actos Use – an Increased Risk of Bladder Cancer?
A 2011 FDA drug safety announcement reported that taking Actos for a year or more could be associated with an increased risk of bladder cancer, particularly in men. Sales of Actos have been suspended in France after a study by the French National Health Insurance Plan concluded that Actos exposed patients to an increased potential for bladder cancer. Germany has also halted the use of Actos for new patients.
Additionally, there is an established link between Actos and congestive heart failure, requiring the medication to carry a boxed warning in the United States. Other serious Actos side effects include:
- Edema (fluid retention);
- Liver problems;
- Macular edema (swelling in the eyes); and
- Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar).
